Am I Old?
I had to chaperon the multi stake luau dance this past weekend. On the way to the dance, the Young Women and I were talking about music. I told them there were definite songs that brought back youth dance memories. A lot of Depeche Mode for instance, and late 80's and early 90's music. They had no clue who Depeche Mode was, and one girl said that must have been way before their time. So as I am wandering the dance making sure everyone is behaving, and wondering if I should have a walker with me since I am obviously soooo old, the d.j. plays a Journey song, and the youth know every word to it. Correct me if I am wrong but isn't the song "Open Arms" late 70's or early 80's? Then they play some Cyndi Lauper, and old school Madonna with a little techno remix in there of course. Wouldn't you know it ALL the youth in the room are singing along. Now "Open Arms" is a classic, who doesn't love or know that one? I just had to laugh, and I didn't feel so old anymore, since the kids knew songs from BEFORE my time. Well I was a little girl anyway when they were big. Someone needs to introduce these kids to some Depeche Mode.
