"You Are CRAZY!"

Well it is official, well almost. We submitted Hannah's paperwork to participate in the districts homeschooling program. We have until the end of the school year to back down before they pull her records from her new elementary school. The district gives you the curriculum and supplies for homeschooling your kid for free, and you have to meet with a teacher once a week to turn it in and pick up the new week of assignments. They also have the children meet once a month for a social or a field trip. They also provide free tutoring if I need it. This coming academic year they will have a library too, just like the school library where they can check out books weekly. And the base here offers a weekly art class for homeschoolers. I guess there is a pretty large group of homeschoolers here. Anyway on Friday they will have Hannah's first 2 weeks of school lessons ready for me to begin in August since we will most likely be on vacation when school starts. Hannah is excited to homeschool, but I am quite nervous. I have my moments of what are you thinking. So far anyone I have told (with the exception of family) I get such huge resistance and the same reactions. They say I am crazy, they say i am cheating Hannah on a proper education, they say Hannah is too social for homeschooling, that i have too many kids at home, etc.. but I do have a lot of support for it from family. That is what is most important. Everyone else can say what they want, but those who count will support me. So maybe I am crazy, but we'll see how it goes. The nice thing is if it just isn't working out Hannah can go right back into school.
