We had an unexpected visitor on Memorial Day. I was loading the kids into the van to go to the Boy Scout bar-b-que fund raiser, and Jason was in the house gathering the diaper bag stuff. Well I see something run across the yard and head straight to my open front door. I called to Jason that some ground squirrel was making a run for the house. Of course when Jason came to the door it detoured and tried to run into the open garage. We never would have found it if it went in the garage. I apparently was too close to the garage so it ran under the car in the driveway. Jason says it wasn't a ground squirrel it was a ferret. Sure enough when we shooed it out from under the car and it ran down the street, it was a very pretty colored ferret. Jason tried to catch it but it was way too fast and he didn't want to get bit, he says ferrets bite. So we just hope the birds following it didn't get a chance to eat him for lunch. Jason thinks it was someone's pet who managed to escape, especially since it tried to get in the house.
