On our way home from camping we stopped in San Francisco. Brooke mentioned seeing the Muir Woods so we decided a break to see that and the Golden Gate Bridge was called for. We saw the Muir Woods the evening before (our camera died so no pictures), and then went to the Golden Gate Bridge in the morning. After paying the $6 toll we drove the bridge and then stopped at the viewing area. It's not as big as you'd think, or as long. Hannah asked the question... why is it called the Golden Gate Bridge, it is red?... so we researched it when we got home. It crosses the Golden Gate Strait which is where the San Francisco Bay connects to the Pacific Ocean, and therefore was named after the strait. It was sooo windy that day.
This is Alcatraz. I'd love to go back when we have time to catch a ferry over and check it out.Sunday, April 19, 2009
