Heather and Heidi's Rag Quilts

Here is a project I started before Christmas to give my children as Christmas presents, and I am glad to say now that March is here my first 2 are finally done, and only a few months late. I had a lot of fun making them, and Holly's is almost done, and Hannah's I just barely started. I'll post theirs when I get them done. They're not perfect but the girls love them and are excited to get them.

Heather's quilt- Heather told me around Oct/Nov her favorite color was brown, when I asked. Well I didn't want to make a brown blanket, but Walmart had this way cute brown and pink fabric so I figured hey brown is in it so it qualifies right? It turns out Heather loves the brown and pink together, and LOVES her quilt.

this is the front of her quilt:

This is a close up of the ragged edges on the front. Instead of quilting them with batting, someone told me to just put flannel squares in between them and it does the same thing as batting, gives it a little more edge, and you don't have to sew the x in every square for the batting:

this is the back of the quilt, well turned back so you can see part of it:

Heidi's quilt- It is smaller then Heather's, but the perfect size for Heidi. I kinda wish I added another color to hers, but that was after it was all done. This was my first one. It is flannel. Heather's is cotton.

here are the edges:

Here is the front. The back is the same as the front, just without he ragged edges so I didn't take a picture of it:

These turned out great! I love rag quilts. I think you're doing great getting them done by March! :o) Especially with four of them to do! I've made a few but only one at a time and each time I think I need a very long break afterward. Pretty easy to put together but it's the snipping that goes on and on and on....I love the fabrics you chose. Heidi's looks so fun and spring-y and of course you know I like pink and brown together. Can't wait to see Hannah's and Holly's! Now you've motivated me to finish Claire's. This is how I want to do her quilt to match her valance in her room. Surely I can do one if you can do four...right?
